Broken- I had a few other ideas before this hit me. When I had thought of the story of the broken sand dollar I knew I had to do it immediatly. It really is true, too. Five white doves EVERY time you break open one!!!
(The writing says,: Now break the center open and here you will release, the five white doves awaiting to spread good will and peace!)
This is in graphite, then watercolour pencils, then sakura ink.

This is a great idea - I'd never heard of a sand dollar or the doves so you got me searching on the web and now I have! Thanks for both the lovely illustration and the push to search for one (though only virtually for the moment!).

How unusual and very lovely...the sand dollar is so fragile and delicate looking. Beautiful:>

A positive concept of broken - to spread goodwill and peace. I love it! We too often focus on the negative. This is a wonderful spirit lifter. Lovely illo!

This is very nicely done! I like the texture you've created, and the subtle colors are perfect. It doesn't need much more than that! By the way, I lived in Delaware for 7 years. Go Blue Hens!
