Primitive Art- Aboriginal Crab

Illustration Friday prompt for 4/18- Primative. Primative Aboriginal crab.
Trust me when I tell you this is so much more vibrant in person. I worked so hard on it and the scanner doesn't even come close to doing this piece justice. What I wanted to do is create a traditional Aboriginal art piece as they did years ago. I love this style and have been looking for the perfect word to practice on.

This is brilliant! And it's a great contribution to honoring aboriginal art--I've been looking at Australian prints lately, and I think they truly capture the pulse of the natural world.

I'm sure with all that contrast it looks awesome in person. It turned out really nice. I like how you took the style and made it your own.

Beautiful--and so detailed and meticulous! I feel you on scanners not doing justice. Happens to my work ALL the time!

I think I can imagine what it looks like on the original...you're able to discern what the scanner was missing when you look at it closely. Well done with the concept and just like the aboriginal style!

Nice work Ellen! Yes, I can imagine this piece is even more effective in person. It almost looks embroidered, with beads and tiny pearls. Lovely.
