Sorry- Illustration Friday

Apology to the Native Americans
Remember the commercial years ago with the Native American? Where they talk about pollution and he has this tear? Well we didn't listen very well.
Then there is all this talk about illegal immigrants. Now, really...Who is the real illegal immigrant here on these United States?
Sorry, my Native American blood gets riled sometimes!

Simply beautiful art.
Love your words.

I caught a snippet on the news of Bush going on about illegal immigrants and wondered how he had the face to say it... but then I guess I'm just feeling smug 'cos my ancestors misdeeds aren't so obvious to me...

I do wish we all thought more about what we are leaving for future generations.

Beautiful picture and very strong image.

Well said "Who is the real illegal immigrant here on these United States". A lot of nations are based upon cruelty and war, even "the free world"'s number one.

How frustrating must it still be to native americans, I can't imagine.

Wow, Ellen! I've a touch of the native blood myself, so I understand. A bit of trivia ~ did you know that Indian in the old commercial was actually an Italian actor?

Beautiful. And your point about pollution is very well made!

I always loved the scene at the end of Wayne's World 2, when the "weird naked indian" re-enacted Iron Eyes Cody's commercial. "Hey dude, don't cry! We'll clean it up!"

Beautiful stiple and line art. Really evokes emotion.

The hypocrisy of what comes out of the mouths of our leaders... and some of their backers... never ceases to amaze. I believe the 'issue' first came up to take the focus off Iraq... but the other party bought it and has now gone off on its tangent, too. What the Native Americans had here has been coveted, stolen, and abused since Columbus lost his way...(don't know how the Vikings acted... though they didn't seem to make a big deal about having been here 100s of years earlier).

Beautiful art; sad post.
