Illustration Friday

Black and White- Marcel and Mime. I performed stage and street mime for years. I had met Mr. Marceau in 1983 when he did a show in Syracuse, NY. His inspiration was my reason for choosing this unusual vocation. I became quite popular in my day. I also was a clown and toured with several children's theatre shows.

Summer- Rehoboth Beach. Summer, to me, is Dolle's Salt Water Taffy on the Rehoboth Beach boardwalk in Delaware. OK...the Thrasher's fries are better but go straight to the arteries! LOL!

Digital- Illo Friday 6-3. I'm getting there. I have to hook up and un hook up equipment now so the Wacom has been down. I bought a new digital camera...besides the digital camera I use for work that I need every day. Plus the new scanner/fax/printer. It's getting very crowded! So...please tell me what you think!

"Aquatic-King Neptune" Illustration Friday 5/27

Aquatic-"King Neptune." This is a pen and ink I did in 1992. I was sooooo excited when this topic came up! I LOVE working with sealife and all things "aquatic!" I have been expiramenting with adding colour to some of my pen and inks. Do you think it adds or takes away when color is added to pen and ink pictures?

Nourishment- Illustration Friday 5-20

Nourishment- I Fri's topic for 5-20. I wasn't sure I would be able to finish this by friday since I added so much detail. Plus we are having a lot done to the house and things have been chaotic around here. Sooo here it is in graphite until I can ink it and color later. Do you think it is too much?

Mischief II Re-do, Ok I finished with the black layer. Does the blue give the fur the shiny look that raccoons have to their fur? Whadyathink?

Mischief - Illustration Friday. I hope I didn't ruin this. I am expiramenting with scanning, getting the color where I want it, adding ink, re-scanning, etc. I think this might be over done. I stopped in the middle of the fourth layer of fur.Please let me know what you think.

Sea Turtles always amazed me. The minute they are born they know that they have to get to the sea. Across several feet of sand they travel as fast as they can so they won't get eaten. Now that's ambitious!

Daring III. I just got my new scanner and am loving the difference in my pictures! So...please check out the other two "Daring" pictures and let me know what you think. Now If I can just get the Wacom to work with the scanner...and get a paint programme...I'll really be in business! 

Daring II. Nonny was the bravest person Binky Boy knew...she dared swim with the sharks!!

"Re-Invent" Women have been re-inventing themselves for years. From being piece of "Adam's rib" to voting. Who knows...we may even be in the White House someday!

Spring on Delmarva

Beautiful Day on the Peninsula! This is one of my "expiramental plants." I find them in the woods or around the yard and transplant them. Everyone made fun and called it the weed tree for several years. Well she finally showed them! It's a beautiful cherry tree! I have an art piece on the way...I just can't pass up an opportunity to show my tree!!! 

"Alone" -Illustration Friday

"Alone " This was a picture (pen and ink) I did that ended up on a playbill for a show called "Extremeties." A very serious show that needed to have a thought-provoking picture to go with it. When I read that the word for Friday was ALONE this picture was the first thing I thought of. I hate being alone sometimes!

Travel III. OK. I promise this is the last one this week. I did this for an October ad a while back. Another piece I need to do in Wacom! Any and all comments always welcome (Constructive ones, that is.) I am still trying to build a portfolio so I can break back into the art world...I really-really want to try illustration.

Crowded. Illustration-Friday's Weekly challenge. Colored pencil and graphite. (Please click on the picture for better view...you can even magnify again if you like. The digital camera is NOT doing my detail justice at all!) Since Easter is coming up I decided to do an illustration of a fond memory I have of Easter. Every year we would get baby ducks and chicks along with our Easter baskets. Don't worry, we lived on a small farm...we raised them.
